Fact Checked by Jim Tomlin

What used to be a yearly video game staple will return to the lexicon of college sports fans’ vocabulary once again this summer, when EA Sports brings back the company’s hallowed “EA Sports College Football” series for the first time in more than a decade.

And after that long absence, there’s still no denying Oklahomans are excited about the future college football video game. In fact, the state ranks among the tops in the nation when it comes to search interest level in the console game.

Using Google Trends, BetOklahoma.com — where the most updated coverage of efforts to legalize Oklahoma sports betting can be found — looked at the states that are searching “NCAA Football 24” over a 30-day span from Dec. 22, 2023, to Jan. 22, 2024, as the game has been in the news recently. We finalized the Top 10 based on the most search volume in those states of the term.

Oklahoma Among States With Most Interest

We listed the states in order of search volume compared to other topics. If there were legal, regulated Oklahoma sportsbook apps, they’d surely take a lot of action during college football season. Nationally, Oklahoma’s search level score of 61 ranked third, behind West Virginia (100) and Kansas (74). The top three states account for five Big 12 football programs, though Oklahoma is departing for the SEC. There, it will join fans in states such as Alabama (60) and Kentucky (56), the states that round out our top five. Fans in Nebraska, where most root for another old rival of the Sooners and Cowboys, come in sixth with 46 points.

Recent reports indicate the new edition will be named EA Sports College Football 25. We know EA Sports plans on bringing the works to their CFB game series, with all the bells and whistles of a football Saturday in places like Oklahoma Memorial Stadium and Boone Pickens Stadium included in this year’s version.

Longtime sports journalist Matt Brown of ExtraPoints.com has also reported EA Sports College Football 25 will have accurate rosters for each of the 134 FBS schools’ 2024 teams, paying money to each player to use their name, image and likeness (or NIL) in this year’s contest.

All of that helps explain the broad interest in a niche sports video game. So CFB fans in Oklahoma, as they await possible future Oklahoma sports betting promo codes, join fans around the country in counting the days until they can fire up their chosen video gaming console and play as their university of choice for the first time in more than a decade.
